Tennessee Volunteers’ College Football Playoff dreams have been shaken following a 31-17 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. Despite leading early, the Vols couldn’t maintain their advantage, leaving their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum shared his concerns on Tuesday, noting that while Tennessee still has potential, they face a tough road ahead in the congested SEC standings. With an 8-2 record, the Vols find themselves ranked the lowest among four SEC teams with the same record, making their position precarious for an at-large playoff bid.
Finebaum pointed out that Tennessee’s best chance at securing a playoff spot involves the elimination of a few at-large teams like Notre Dame. However, with a crowded race and other teams ahead, the Vols’ playoff path remains uncertain.
